SMASHED

Mike!!! You broke the window! Well you were mean't to catch it. I mean It's hardly my fault you can't catch. That's because you threw it at the window! Of course I couldn't catch it. What are you two boys up to? Oh no, it's dad! ...Uh...we're just throwing the...uh...the ball! Where's the ball then? Um...we lost it. Well we'll find it. No! No! Don't go down there! Why not? Um.......... WHAT THE HELL!!! WHO BROKE THIS WINDOW!

7:15

7:15! O'h damn. My bus will be here in 5 minutes! I literally jump the stair case, all the while, I'm putting on my shirt. I put a handful of cornflakes into my mouth, them pour a glass of milk into it as well. As I am eating, I glance at the clock, and it is now 7:18. I sprint upstairs and finish getting dressed. Then I race out the door and run to the bus stop, about 100m up the road. I miss the bus by about 10m! However, I can rpobably catch it at the next stop, 400m from here. I cut through a couple of houses to save time and almost get taken out by one of there dogs. I near the end of the road, and can see the bus driving up towards the stop. Finally! I reach the bus stop just in time.

My Story For English

It was going to end badly...the chip that contained the secret document was about to be lost for all of eternity. I HAD to save it, or everything would be lost! My enemy was standing before me, on a thin, unstable bridge. He was threatening to drop the most valuable piece of information down the dark mineshaft. I had to stop him, I had no choice. There was only one way, and it was going to cost me...I had to do something I had never done before. A risk that would potentially change my life forever...

Holes (By Louis Sachar)

My Interpretation:

Holes is an intriguing story, which is very easy to follow, but has a lot of depth. Stanley Yelnats and his family have an endless account of bad luck; therefore Stanley isn’t terribly surprised when he is sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime which he didn’t commit.
Camp Green Lake is a searing hot place situated in the once filled lake, Green Lake. The boys there are forced to dig one hole each, five feet deep and five feet wide, each and every day. The big questions are: what are they digging for? And why did Green Lake dry up?

Blurb on Back Cover:

Stanley Yelnats isn’t too surprised to find himself at Camp Green Lake, digging holes in the dried-up lake bed, day after scorching day. After all, his family has a history of bad luck.
The boys at Camp Green Lake must dig one hole each day, five feet deep and five feet across. But what are they digging for? Why did Green Lake dry up? And what do onions and lizards have to do with it all? The answers lie in Stanley’s own past …
Holes is a funny, surprising and deliciously suspenseful novel, weaving past and present into a plot that tangles and untangles to a thrilling end.
